Waste to Wisdom- "How could we make our wardrobe more Sustainable?"

After knowing the dangerous impact and true cost of fast fashion Many people might ask “How could someone be more fashionable? “  or How can the fashion industry can grow when addressing the environmental need addressing the issue to buy fewer clothes. The answer is simple- Buy when you need, mix the costume and Repeat.

After arising the awareness among people due to the climate change and the grown amount of waste a lot of people are questioning about their preference and a better way to purchase and the awareness rise mostly among the young generation.

The fashion industry could contribute a huge for the change because we all are responsible for the waste that generate from the fashion industry directly and indirectly. But the problem is sustainability goes beyond the fewer clothes. We can not change the people mindset about buying clothes in day rather we could make people inspire or motivate them to contribute to save the planet. we can inform them this short-term trend has a long term impact in the earth.

How could we do so? Well: -

1. Buy less but choose well:

Instead of getting attracted by every sale or trend ask yourself do you really needs this.  You can buy high quality item rather than quantity.  Products those lasts longer reduce the waste and saves money in the long run. Mixing the costume or exchanging could be a better solution. A great way to keep styling without sacrificing wardrobe clothes is mixing and matching the outfits. If we remixing the outfit we can

2. Support Ethical and Transparent Brands

Some fashion brands now focus on fair labor practices, eco-friendly fabrics, and slow production. Look for certifications like Fair Trade, GOTS (organic textiles), or B Corp — and check if the brand shares where and how their clothes are made.

3. Normalize Second-Hand & Vintage Fashion

Buying pre-loved isn’t just sustainable — it’s stylish. Thrift stores, online platforms, and clothing swaps are fun, affordable ways to find unique items. You save money and the planet at the same time.

4. Upcycle, Repair, and Re-wear

Instead of throwing clothes away because of a rip or stain, try repairing or upcycling them. Tutorials are everywhere online, and small fixes can extend the life of a garment. Re-wearing outfits proudly is also a mindset shift — not everything needs to be “new” to be fashionable.

5. Rent for Special Events

Party wear basically buy with a lots of money but wear for a few times and sometimes it doesn't even wear only once in a life time. Event outfits (like for weddings or parties) are often worn once. Clothing rental services offer designer and high-quality options without the waste. This is ideal for people who want style without ownership. Rent and run way is a renting company who rented clothes 4 to 8 day basis.

6. Practice Mindful Consumption in General

Beyond clothes, sustainability is about conscious choices in other areas, use a reusable water bottle and bag, avoid plastic packaging, Choose local and seasonal food when possible and Reduce impulse shopping overall.

7. Adopt the “30 Wears” Mindset

This simple question  “Will I wear this 30 times?” helps filter impulse buys. If the answer is no, skip it. This habit alone can drastically reduce unnecessary purchases.

Sustainable Fashion = Sustainable Future

Sustainability doesn’t mean giving up style — it means choosing smarter, living more intentionally, and caring for the world we’re part of. Change doesn’t happen overnight, but every small shift counts. Whether it’s shopping second-hand, fixing what’s broken, or simply buying less, we all have power to make a difference — starting with our closet.

The Dirty Truth About Microplastics "How Your Clothes Pollute the Planet"

I never thought about what happens after I wash clothes. It's a routine thing to put some clothes in washing machine and turn the button on and then walk away.  But one day I stumbled upon a headline: "Your clothes are polluting the ocean." It sounded dramatic. But then I read more. Every time I washed my favourite hoodie which is made out of polyester I figured out I was releasing thousands of microplastic fibers into the water system. They were invisible. I couldn't see them, touch them, or pick them up. But they were there  and flowing into rivers, lakes, and the ocean. These microplastics, smaller than 5 mm, don't break down. They stay put. They float. They sink. They are eaten by fish, shellfish, and even birds. And eventually... us. It is estimated that synthetic textiles are responsible for a global discharge of between 0.2 and 0.5 million tonnes of microplastics into the oceans each year (Sherrington, 2016; Ellen MacArthur Foundation, 2017 ). The s...
